It's not every day you have a man of towering cultural and political significance drop in on Salt Lake City, but that's what we get with Danny "Machete" Trejo Thursday. Oh, and former President Jimmy Carter's here, too!---

What, you don't think Danny Trejo (pictured) or his title character in recent grindhouse flick Machete are significant? Really? How many OTHER Mexican-American heroes have you seen in a major Robert Rodriguez-directed, Hollywood-financed flick lately? Trejo is the man, and tonight starts his three-night run as part of the Castle of Chaos haunted house; he'll also be the host of a party at The Hotel Friday night, which also has Shock G of Digital Underground.

And talk about a perfect warm-up to getting yourself scared half to death—it's a chance to meet a former U.S. president and a Nobel Peace Prize winner when Jimmy Carter rolls into The King's English bookstore to sign copies of his new White House Diaries. His appearance is at noon, and you can buy a book and have it autographed.

And finally, tonight is the regional premiere of She Was My Brother, a Plan-B Theatre production at the Rose Wagner. Check out ArtTix outlets for ticket availability.
