Just in case you missed the Mayer Hawthorne show Friday, there are a couple more soulful voices to make up for it tonight. Plus, the Biz is in town for Yo Gabba Gabba!---

I totally missed out on the Hawthorne show, so Tuesday night, it's particularly tempting to choose one of the two retro-fied soul crews in town to make up for it. At The Urban Lounge, it's the smooth sounds of Aloe Blacc (pictured) headlining a gig, while In The Venue presents The Heavy, the "How You Like Me Now?" band from all those Kia commercials full of adult-sized toys rampaging through the country. Both shows should put a bump in your step. 

Those of you with kids, or simply a winningly childish mien, will want to hit Yo Gabba Gabba's live show at West Valley City's Maverik Center, either at 2 p.m. or 6 p.m. You'll get to see some Reel Big Fish, Aquabats and Biz Markie if you go, and later on, the Biz is performing at The Hotel while the Fish/Aquabats crew are heading to In The Venue.

And if you're looking for something a little more intellectually stimulating, consider the free lecture at Westminster College at 7 p.m., when Roxane Farmanfarmaian will be discussing "The Iranian Enigma: Nuclear Pariah or Global Energy Resource?” Born in Salt Lake City, Farmanfarmaian grew up in Iran and the Netherlands. She is the author of Blood and Oil: Memoirs of a Persian Prince, which she wrote with her father. She earned a BA in Middle East Studies at Princeton University and a PhD in International Studies at Cambridge University.
