We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

Marcus: Free Show Tonight & Sunday

Salt Lake City comedian Marcus released his new DVD (The Hand That Feeds) and CD (Hell Oh Well) on Halloween weekend. You didn't go. So he's doing a pair of free make-up shows this week. ---

Tonight and Sunday the 14th, Marcus be performing at Wiseguys Trolley Square (505 S. 600 East), no cover. Doors open at 6 pm, showtime at 8 pm, first-come first-serve seating.

Note that the DVD and CD are completely different performances recorded at different times: The Hand That Feeds was filmed in the spring for a possible Comedy Central slot, while Hell Oh Well was taped more recently (at the Trolley Square Wiseguys) after a series of Chinese Democracy-esque false starts. That adds up to several hours of new, original comedy; you should buy both, because this kind of DIY undertaking ain't cheap--especially on a comedian's budget. Just ask Eliza Schlessinger, if you can find her.

Here's a clip from The Hand That Feeds, filmed at Kingsbury Hall earlier this year:
