Lounge Act Weekend: Radio parties, new CDs | Buzz Blog
We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on PressBackers.com, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you. DONATE

Lounge Act Weekend: Radio parties, new CDs

This weekend is absolutely crazy-packed with goodies, a fitting start to a month of frivolity, with radio stations throwing big bashes and local bands releasing new albums.---

Friday night, KRCL's first Polar Jubilee should be a gas, thanks to top-notch tunes courtesy of City Weekly Music Awards champs Spell Talk and the Joshua Payne Orchestra, plus the sight of Circus Brown in his best Elvis Santa gear--be sure to set on the ol' boy's lap if you get the chance. The party is at the Salt Lake Hardware Building starting at 7 p.m.

Friday night at The State Room, it's a CD release celebration for Cory Mon and the Starlight Gospel; check out our profile of the band right here, then go check out the show at 8 p.m. Kiliona is hosting a CD release party at the Sugar Space Friday night, and SNDTRKR headlines a gig at The Woodshed. Also Fridya, the Pioneer Theater Company opens its production of White Christmas.

Saturday night, Laserfang's debut album Mammoth gets feted with two shows, first at Kilby Court and later at The Urban Lounge; read our profile on the band right here, then catch one of the shows.

Sunday night, KUER celebrates its 50th birthday with a wing-dingof a Gold Party at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center that includes performances by Los Lobos (pictured), Plan-B Theatre actors doing readings from David Sedaris' works, Steve Williams hosting a jazz lounge and more. A $200 donation gets you two tix to the party, which starts at 5 p.m.
