All About EVE

Salt Lake City's family-friendly three-day New Year's celebration has a fat load of local music filling the stages at its new location.---

You might remember EVE's launch last year, when it filled the Gallivan Center, Pierpont Avenue and various arts outlets with activities. This year's edition is moving to the Salt Palace Convention Center and the adjacent section of West Temple, making the mini-winter-fest more of a one-stop proposition.

Among the slew of fine local music talent taking part this year: The High Beams (Dec. 30), Paul Jacobsen (Dec. 29), Muscle Hawk, The Devil Whale and Cub Country (all Dec. 31), among others.

The Incendiary Circus will be on hand all three days, there will be a giant ski jump built on West Temple, and off-site locations like the Broadway Cinema, Off Broadway Theatre, Clark Planetarium  and Temple Square  will host events as well. Inside the Salt Palace, a second music stage and various kid-centric activities will be housed in the convention center's rooms, and the Salt Palace's in-house food concession means there will be beer on site.

The Downtown Alliance's Jason Mathis called EVE "more than just a party, but an expression of optimism and creativity" at the kick-off press conference Thursday morning.

TRAX and Frontrunner will offer free rides EVE pass holders for the three days of the festival, and admission will be $10 a day; kids under 10 are free with a paid adult. For details on all things EVE, visit the festival Website.
