Lounge Act Tuesday: Spin, baby, spin! And vote! | Buzz Blog
We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on PressBackers.com, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you. DONATE

Tuesday marks the opening salvo in the ongoing fireworks display that is the City Weekly Music Awards, and we want YOU involved from the get-go.---

How, you may ask. Easy as pie—today marks the opening day of voting to determine which of Utah's stellar cast of DJs will perform and compete in the CWMA DJ Spin-off on February 2. We whittled a massive list of nominations to the top 25, and now we want to know which DJ you think deserves his moment in the spotlight. Whether you're into trance, house, hip-hop, it's time to make your voice heard. So cruise on over to the CWMA page and vote, dammit!

After you've done your duty as a local music fan, go ahead and treat yourself to a night on the town.

Million Young are performing at The Urban Lounge, along with The Great Mundane and Spirit Master. Velour in Provo is hosting a Christmas-themed open-mic night. Red Rock Hot Club is playing Gracie's, and Say Hi to Skyline headline at Kilby Court.

And, in what is sure to be a big to-do, HEAL Utah is hosting its fourth annual fundraiser at the Jewish Community Center Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
