Lounge Act Wednesday: Soul tunes, buffalos and the Runnin' Utes

Wednesday night? Must be time to start the slide into a loooooooong weekend.---

Many of us will be starting Wednesday evening's festivities planted in front of a TV somewhere to watch the University of Utah's bowl game against Boise St. If you're into it, no doubt downtown's various watering holes will have at least a couple of screens focused on the 6 p.m. game, or the Utah Jazz game at the same time. If you'd rather avoid a lot of whooping, hollering and gnashing of teeth, well, you've been forewarned.

Post-game, there are plenty of options for either celebrating or drowning your sorrows. Pop-rockers The Terks are headlining a show at The Urban Lounge, while Heber up-and-comers Holy Water Buffalo (pictured) are headlining a CD release party at Harry O's in Park City; read a breakdown of their recent victory at Velour's battle of the bands right here.

And over at the W Lounge, the Soul to Sole fundraiser features a couple DJs spinning classic soul tunes from the '60s and '70s, raffle and door prizes, with proceeds going toward Utah's Angel Tree Program and Unaccompanied Youth, a charity for homeless kids.
