There's a lot of great tunes on tap this MLK Day holiday. And a  couple of your options would qualify as a reasonable way to celebrate the man.---

Take the Preservation Hall Jazz Band concert Monday at the Sheraton City Center. Each of the members of this overwhelmingly black band lost his home in Hurricane Katrina, but found the fortitude to keep touring AND rebuild their homes in the years since. Read our interview with the band director Ben Jaffe right here, then check out the show at 7:30 p.m.

Up in Ogden, the Harlem Gospel Choir headlines a show. They actually formed on Martin Luther King, Jr., day in 1986, and have played with and for the likes of U2, the pope, even Stephen Colbert. The show is at 7:30 p.m.

And Robert Earl Keen, the cool Texan who once was roommates with Lyle Lovett, finishes off his two-night stand at The State Room tonight, with Paul Jacbosen and the Madison Arm opening. It's sold-out, but there are likely some tickets floating around online for the dedicated fans to hunt down.
