Predict the Oscars Contest: And the Award Goes To ...

The 2011 Academy Awards are in the books -- and so is the winner of the first City Weekly Predict the Oscars contest. ---

Congratulations to Pietro D'Alessio, whose winning entry successfully guessed 17 out of 24 categories. (And it's a good thing his was a clean victory, as his 11:58 p.m. guess on the end of the broadcast, which ended at 9:40 local time, probably wouldn't have been good enough). As previously announced, the prize package includes: True Grit T-shirt and adjustable baseball cap; paperback copies of the Oscar-nominated scripts for Toy Story 3 and 127 Hours; CD copy of the Oscar-winning Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross soundtrack for The Social Network; and DVDs of It's Kind of a Funny Story and Secretariat. To that we're adding the Blu-Ray DVD of Disney's Bambi, newly released this week.

While we hadn't announced or planned on a second-place prize, Laura Olsen's 16 out of 24 was not only good for second place, but her 9:42 guess for the end-of-broadcast time was a great guess. So Laura will get a hardcover copy of the Oscar-winning adapted screenplay for The Social Network.

Just remember for next year: You can't win if you don't play.
