Lounge Act Monday: Civil Twilight, Stuck! & Beautiful Threads

I know it's Monday, but what the hell time is it?---

Time to start the week in a rather leisurely way, I'm thinking, since we're all still recovering from losing that hour of sleep a couple days ago. Even so, there are some options.

At the State Room Monday night, the double-bill of Civil Twilight (pictured) and A Silent Film brings a dose of what I'll call grandiose-rock, the anthemic style favored by bands like U2 and Coldplay (and the bands that love them, like these two). In other words, it's a rock show, but you can feel good about sitting down through it.

Elsewhere, Bar Deluxe hosts Black Whales, Monarques, I Hear Sirens and The Trappers, while the Sun & Moon Cafe has Jimmy Thackery & the Drivers for some meal-time tunes.

If a flick is more your speed, consider the Salt Lake Film Center's screening of Stuck!, a tongue-in-cheek homage to '50s women's prisons films presented as part of the LGBT film series at 7 p.m. at the Tower.

And for something completely different, the Utah Cultural Celebration Center is open all day to check out its new art show dedicated to the weaving arts of Utah, Beautiful Threads: A Celebration of Utah Fiber Arts.
