Going to be doing a little recording at KRCL in the Friday a.m., so let's get the weekend's options out early, mmmkay?---

Friday
There are so many worthy music options on Friday that I still haven't decided what to do with myself, or how to organize a rapid evening of bar-hopping.

One option is to hunker down at In the Venue to catch Aussie pop hottie Lenka headlining an early show, followed by the sold-out main room bill headlined by My Chemical Romance and including Utah's own Neon Trees (pictured). Read our interview with Neon Trees right here, and prepare to sweat and battle for a spot at the bar for this gig.

Over at The State Room, another fine option with Raul Malo, the silky-voiced leader of The Mavericks who is doing a solo show. Fictionist is headlining a show in Provo at Velour to keep their chops up while they compete in the Rolling Stone cover competition, and the SLUG Localized show has Holy Water Buffalo on the bill at The Urban Lounge. And if you simply want to dance your ass off, it's Girls Night Out at W Lounge, where the City Weekly Street Team will be adding to the fun--find them and potentially find some free drinks and whatnot.

On a music-related note, Friday night also marks the start of the Universe City Rock 'n' Roll Poster Art Show, so go get yourself some cool stuff for your walls before heading out to satisfy your ears.

Saturday
Saturday isn't quite as music-heavy, but there are still some good options. Maniac rapper Kool Keith brings his incredibly creative stage show to The Urban Lounge, and that's a must-see for sure.

Elsewhere, comic Greg Behrendt headlines at Wiseguys, Ballet West's Bolero continues its run, and author Philip Connors will be in town to sign his book Fire Season at Sam Weller's.

Sunday
Head to Park City, maybe do a little skiing by day, then stop at the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts for the incomparable sounds of Sweet Honey in the Rock. Soulful sounds on the Sabbath seem just right for ending the weekend.
