Lounge Act Wednesday: Jeff Beck, Cold Cave, the Jazz finale

It's not every day a living legend, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame type rolls into a Salt Lake City nightclub, but Wednesday IS one of those days.---

Jeff Beck is the man of the hour, headlining a gig at The Depot tonight that is sure to entrance the guitar geeks of Utah. I've heard nothing but great things about his recent tour dates, so check back at CityWeekly.net Thursday for a review courtesy of City Weekly's resident food guru (and a guitar-slinger himself) Ted Scheffler.

If something a little more dancey-gothy is up your alley, make your way to Cold Cave at The Urban Lounge. The band has a serious Cure/New Order thing going on, and the new Cherish the Light Years album is pretty damn fine.

Out at the Great Saltair, middling rockers Hinder and Black Stone Cherry are playing, the Legendary Porch Pounders are headlining at Hog Wallow, and Rattle & Hum, a U2 tribute band, is playing at Park City's Egyptian Theater.

And you football fans will want to make your way out to Sandy to see the Real Salt Lake match against the Colorado Rapids, a clash of intermountain rivals that have each won the MSL championship in the past two years. Oh, and it's also the last game of the year for the Utah Jazz, tonight at the Tox Box versus the playoff-bound Denver Nuggets. Thank God.
