A lot of tunes on the ol' town tonight, from metal to DJ beat battles. Check it out ... ---

Club Vegas plays host to Holy Grail, pictured, Wednesday night, and if you're a fan of old-school metal ala Iron Maiden, Priest and Dio, you might find a lot to love with these guys.

The Avalon Theater Wednesday has a show featuring The Daylights, an L.A. trio with a jones for Euro-style rock grandeur, ala U2 and Coldplay. 

Kilby Court has Vivian Girls and No Joy on tap Wedneday, while The Urban Lounge has Yelle, French Horn RebellionAnd over at Bar Deluxe, the first round of KRCL's "Beat Battle" goes down at 9 p.m.
and Muscle Hawk.

The Utah Museum of Fine Arts' ongoing look at The Smithson Effect continues tonight with a 7 p.m. lecture by Hikmet Sidney Loe, author of the forthcoming book The Spiral Jetty and Rozel Point: Rotating Through Time and Place.
