Lounge Act Wednesday: This is just a tribute

Yippee-Ki-A! It's humpday, and you know what that means, right?---

Well, for Utah music geeks, it means it's time to start the weekend REALLY early with a show. Perhaps that show is Emery at In The Venue, or the OTHER show at In The Venue Wednesday, featuring The Maine (pictured) and Augustana.  Maybe it's the House of Floyd at The State Room, yet another Pink Floyd tribute band. (Seriously, how many can there be?) Speaking of tribute bands, Beatles fanatics can check out Reavolver at The Urban Lounge Wednesday night. And over at Liquid Joe's, Someone's Mom is headlining, adding a new ridiculous-but-funny band name to the SLC lexicon.

Beyond tunes, it's kind of quiet out there, save for the YA Fiction fans, who will want to pop in to The King's English to meet Elena Johnson, a central Utah school teacher who's debut novel, Possession, just came out. I was hoping the story would be inspired by the Danzig song of the same name, but no dice.

And if you happen to be in Park City, the High West Distillery celebrates Whiskey Wednesday every week with special deals on its oh-so-tasty libation. I sampled the Double Rye a couple times the other night at a Farmers Market party, and it's shmooooove.
