Get your groove on after a hefty dose of Pie ‘n’ Beer Day celebrations.---

It’s true, any day is a good day for pie and beer. But to embrace Pioneer Day, and the celebrations that happen today, with a spoof ... well, that’s what we do here at City Weekly. Enjoy today with some culinary indulgence, as recommended by the area’s microbrewers, and pair up savory and sweet pies with myriad beer options. Read it here, then eat it wherever, before heading out tonight.

While the RX Bandits will be headlining the show at The Complex tonight for their supposed last tour through Utah (read an interview here), the band to see is Maps & Atlases. As witnessed on one of my favorite albums of 2010, the math-rockers from Chicago have a sound that is fresh, which is refreshing in the sea of indie rock. Read an interview we did with them from their tour last fall, then get down to The Complex early and prepare to be impressed.

Over at The State Room, the funk-fusion big band from Los Angeles, Orgone, will be making an appearance tonight. They came through town in this past May, and had no trouble getting butts moving on the dance floor. If you’re looking to dance off those pie and beer calories, this is the place (no Utah reference intended). Local band Marinade will open; they just returned from their first extended tour, and wrote about it here.

For the more pop music inclined, Katy Perry, with support from Robyn, will play at Energy Solutions Arena tonight.
