The best thing that ever happened on a Monday was the creation of that The Mamas and the Papas song. But today might not be bad if you listen to our tips to entertain yourself.---

Top of the list is the fine double bill at West Valley City's Maverik Center tonight, a show featuring headliner Death Cab for Cutie (pictured) and opener Frightened Rabbit. Death Cab are familiar faces in these parts, and City Weekly talked to musical mastermind and producer extraordinaire Chris Walla about the band's new album, Codes & Keys. Read the Death Cab for Cutie article here, then check out the show tonight. Be sure to get there in time for Frightened Rabbit; the Scottish band killed at The Urban Lounge earlier this year.

Slow Food Utah is hosting its Summer SLC Bites! event at the 15th Street Gallery. You can enjoy some locally produced food and beverages while checking out some fine artwork in the gallery. It starts at 7 p.m.

Downtown denizens will want to hit the Brown Bag Concert at Exchange Place, today featuring the Doug Wintch Band doing that rootsy thing they do so well.

The Utah Cultural Celebration Center in West Valley City hosts Islands in the Desert for a free show at 8 p.m.
