I'm back from an NYC vacation that was involuntarily extended by Hurricane Irene, and I'm ready to get September started in style. How about you?---
Thursday marks opening night of the University of Utah football season; the Utes will be playing Montana State at 6 p.m. in what should be a blowout, but don't be surprised if the game is somewhat close. The Bobcats from Bozeman are a good team for a school that size.
Thursday night also features the Thievery Corporation show at Red Butte Garden. The garden rarely hosts this kind of electro dance-party, so it should be a pretty cool gig in Utah's best concert venue. Read our interview with Thievery Corporation, then go check out the show.
The Urban Lounge is hosting what is sure to be a great show courtesy of Two Gallants. The San Fran duo has been on hiatus for awhile, but this show is part of a tour to get them back up to speed -- a really great live band, to be sure.
The Capitol Theatre opens its run of Broadway Across America's Mary Poppins Thursday night. Admit it: You already have "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" running through your head, don't you?
