It’s Oktoberfest season, to be sure. But Thaifoon in The Gateway is turning the traditional autumn festival into something very special with “Woktoberfest,” a month-long celebration --- that fuses Thaifoon’s Asian-inspired cuisine with traditional German favorites on a special menu, and also features local Wasatch Brewery beers as part of the recipes for such dishes as “Wokin’ Hot Brats.”
As part of the Woktoberfest celebration, Thaifoon is also giving away an overnight Salt Lake City “staycation” for two, a custom home-brewing kit, a private dinner for 10 people, and a specially engraved Thaifoon wok each day to randomly selected customers in its “Wok-A-Day Giveaway.” Two lucky Thaifoon diners will also receive a guided tour of the Utah Brewers Cooperative Brewery in Salt Lake City.
“Throughout the entire month of October, we will be blending Modern Asian with the beer and brats of Oktoberfest,” said Jimmy Gage, Thaifoon’s general manager. “By taking this celebrated German tradition and adding a twist, we can promise an experience that shakes up guest’s expectations of a traditional Asian restaurant, and provides bold flavors and ingredients you can only find at Thaifoon.”
The Woktoberfest menu features not only the Wokin’ Hot Brats, but also Beer Links Flatbread, Tempura Fish & Chips, and Braised Duck Sliders. Wasatch’s Oktoberfest Lager is used in each of the dishes.
“We’re excited to partner with Thaifoon to incorporate our Oktoberfest Lager with Asian spices to enhance these classic foods,” said Greg Schirf, founder of Wasatch Beers. “Woktoberfest is an innovative idea that puts a new spin on a festival that celebrates two of our favorite things – German culture and beer.”
