Lounge Act Weekend: Benefits, pet parties and The Diceman cometh | Buzz Blog
We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on PressBackers.com, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you. DONATE

Lounge Act Weekend: Benefits, pet parties and The Diceman cometh

Here's a weekend's worth of goodies, for your consideration.---

It's hard to believe that someone like Andrew "Dice" Clay could pull off a comeback, but his repellent, sexist schtick probably has more acolytes in our current brutish times than when he was considered counter-programming to the political-correctness movement. Will the people still laugh at his dirty nursery rhymes? Find out when the Diceman performs at Wiseguys this weekend.

Something a little more appealing to me is the art show at Gray Wall Gallery. Art Skills n' Pinup Thrills opens this weekend, and runs through the month of October. Check out how various artists approach the classic pinup.

Down Provo way, Cory Mon returns after a summer in Hawaii to play some new tunes at Velour, along with friends like Wes Kirkpatrick and Lady & Gent.

Art Meets Fashion is one of the coolest fundraisers of the year. For your ticket price, you get a fashion show featuring seven local designers, a fine art show consisting of 25 excellent contemporary artists, live music, food and the satisfaction of helping support the YWCA and that organization's many worthy programs. It starts at 6 p.m.; hit the link for more details.

Pet owners, take note: The Cause for Paws 2nd Annual Art for Animals Howl-O-Ween Benefit is going down Saturday at The Depot at 8 p.m. Enjoy a rager with your furry friends in tow, and support a great organization in Cause for Paws.

Grieves & Budo bring a little of that Rhymesayers flava to Kilby Court Saturday night. Odyssey Dance Theatre's annual Thriller show kicks off its Kingsbury Hall run.

The coolest event for movie lovers this weekend comes via The Vincent Price Legacy, happening at the Murray Theater. Not only do you get a lecture from his daughter, Victoria, but you get a screening of The Tingler, complete with chair-shockers!

Saturday is also the premiere of the new Warren Miller flick, ... Like There's No Tomorrow. Find the City Weekly Street Team and get some free goodies.

Join City Weekly's True TV for The Walking Dead on the big screen at Brewvies, Sunday night at 8 p.m.
