It's Monday night, one week out from Halloween. You can either start catching up with one of the many haunted houses around town, or check out these tips for entertaining yourself tonight.---

If you're a hip-hop fiend, the Blue Scholars have two shows tonight, one at Kilby Court at 7 p.m. and a later one at The Urban Lounge. Both should be some wicked fun.

Monday also marks your second chance to check out the JazzSLC crew's new digs at the Capitol Theatre. Frank Vignola and the Virtuoso Band (pictured) is the featured attraction for the show tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Any metal maniacs out there will want to consider the headlining gig by Opeth at the Complex, where they'll be joined by Katatonia.

And the non-musically inclined should seriously consider dropping in on the Salt Lake Acting Company at 7 p.m. for a free reading of A Night with the Family, a new play by local talent Matthew Ivan Bennett. You even get to interact with Bennett and the cast as part of the fun.
