We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

Occupy SLC to Protest the G20 Saturday

The Occupy SLC movement will be joining a solidarity rally with Occupy Wall Street Saturday to protest the meeting of the G20 economic summit in Paris -- a meeting Occupy organizers say enables corporate greed to go global and undercut the sovereign will of developing nations.---

According to an Occupy SLC press release, the G20 has forced nations “to sell out their populations by adopting policies that force their educational, political, social and economic institutions to work for the world elite.” If you want to rage against the machine on a global level right here in SLC, come join the Occupy movement. The demonstration starts at Pioneer Park, where organizers will be educating participants about the G20 summit and then marching through Salt Lake City’s financial district and protesting outside the city’s World Trade Center.

Check it out, Saturday, Oct. 29, 12-3 p.m., starting at Pioneer Park, 350 S. 300 West. For more information, visit Occupy SLC’s event page here.
