Wine Wednesday: Skalli @ Silver Fork

On Thursday, Nov.10, the friendly folks at Silver Fork Lodge in Brighton will host a five-course dinner and wine pairing, exploring some of the wines from the world-renowned Skalli Family Properties. ---

Since 1920, the Skalli family have been making flagship wines in the South of France -- Languedoc, Rhone Valley, Provence and Corsica. More recently, the family has broadened their scope to include Napa Valley, where their St. Supery wines are produced.

French Skalli Family wines include Domaine du Silene, Fortant, Robert Skalli, Couleurs du Sud, Maison Bouachon, Caves Saint-Pierre, Clos Poggiale, Terra Vecchia and others.

Included in the Silver Fork dinner will be wines from St. Supery (their Sauvignon Blanc is among my favorites), Skalli Grand Vins du Rhone and Fortant. Susan Allen from St. Supery will be on hand to introduce the wine pairings and answer questions.

The cost is $60 per person and reservations can be made at 801-533-9977. Silver Fork Lodge is also offering an overnight bed-and-breakfast special for $90 per night, plus tax, including breakfast for two. The Skalli wine dinner begins at 7 p.m..
