The Really Really Free Market

If you’ve been too preoccupied to see what the anti-Wall Street folks of Occupy SLC have been up to you, can start Friday with Occupy SLC’s Really Really Free Market. Starting at the crack of dawn and going all day, occupiers are hosting a free market where people bring items they want to give away and people take them away. It’s like a free flea market for people who want the market experience without the financial cost.

Community Coat Exchange

If you’d like to drop off a warm winter coat that could go to help low-income and homeless Utahns, stop off at the Community Coat Exchange. If you're facing a tough winter yourself, you’re also welcome to come pick up or exchange a coat yourself -- no questions asked -- thanks to this event hosted by the Crossroads Urban Center and the Blue Sky Institute.

Holiday Farmers Market and Breakfast

If you've got holiday shopping to do, the least you can do is go local. So why not check out a great local’s farmers market down at the Wheeler Historic Farm? Over 60 local vendors will be offering locavores delightful treats, from local honey to jams and breads. You can try the sumptuous and eco-friendly chocolates of Chocolate Conspiracy or buy ornate wooden jewelry made by the skilled hands of the artisans of Ruby Wood Art. Admission is free to the Friday event, but shoppers can get an $8 breakfast from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and Santa himself will be there for photos and to entertain Christmas wish lists from the kiddies, also from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
