Lounge Act Tuesday: Calm before the Sundance storm

There are two shows tonight, although they do not get the Lounge Act stamp of approval. Maybe check out an author reading or just hunker down before the Sundance storm hits this weekend.---

The power-pop sounds of Allstar Weekend take over The Complex for an early show. And up in Ogden, the sprite youth of A Lot Like Birds will demonstrate their brand of progressive/post-hardcore/experimental tunes at Mojo’s Caffe.

The best option for entertainment tonight is a reading with University of Utah pulmonary-medicine professor Samuel Brown at the King’s English Bookshop. His book, In Heaven as It Is on Earth: Joseph Smith & the Early Mormon Conquest of Death, deals with some elements of LDS cosmology and eschatology. Read more about the event in Scott Renshaw’s CW A&E Essential Pick.

And speaking of the Sundance Film Festival storm this weekend, tickets go back on sale, starting at this morn. Go to the Sundance Website to peruse your options.
