Roseanne: Local Girl Runs for Prez

Among LDS faithful, a certain belief/fear worms its way into all the rest: that the U.S. Constitution, which they greatly revere, will one day hang by a thread. --- Mormons will be needed to rush in and save the country. With the current crop of presidential wannabes oozing with Mormonness, one might surmise that end times are just around the corner, what with Romney and formerly Huntsman on the Republican front; Rocky Anderson leading the newly created Justice Party; and now, drum roll, please, Roseanne Barr, a Green Party candidate landing a spot on the California primary ballot.

Barr was born and raised in Salt Lake City, where she claims to have had both a Jewish and Mormon upbringing. She left Utah at 18 to launch a career as an outspoken stand-up comic, actor, TV director and producer. She returned to Salt Lake City in 2011 to serve as Pride Parade grand marshal.

While Roseanne's vision for the country is unknown, her earlier promises to legalize marijuana and forgive student loans will do her well in California. And who knows, there might be a few laughs in this too-serious race.

(Only if Harry Reid announces should we move into our backyard bunkers.)
