-Dear GYA: Sooo, I was a li'l drunk last night and I clicked on a banner that said “Hot-sexy singles want to hook-up right now.” Well, long story short, they did not. Got any ideas for stuff to do today that doesn’t require me to turn over my social security number and mother’s maiden name? – Milton, Initech accountant, Sandy---
Milton, someday you will find a hot-sexy single who wants to hook-up. Continue clicking on those ads till you find the right one. As for today, first thing you should do is checkout the super-secret Flash Mob performance located at a super-secret location somewhere here in SLC at 3:06 p.m. (I won’t give away the location, but I hear it’s happening at the G. Center or the Gallivan C.) It’s a spontaneous dance thingy that is happening in eight different cities at the exact same time. Plus, you’ll probably be on TV, since local news channels love this kind of crap.
Then, head west a couple of blocks and check out Rachel Stallings' art exhibit, Covered in Stars at the Central Utah Arts Center. It’s going on all day today, and it will likely leave a lasting effect on you … like when you’re hit with a glitter bomb. No, seriously, it's supposed to be amazing.
And, last but not least, go see the indy-electro-dance crew Yacht at Urban Lounge. Tickets are only $12 in advance and you get to see a DJ named Dances With Wolves. In case you were wondering, it’s not Kevin Costner’s DJ side-project. Doors open at 9 p.m.; this one will probably sell out.
Other notable things going down today:
- The theatrical explosion of music Blast, at the Ellen Eccles Theatre.%uFFFD
- City Weekly & True TV's free screening of Justified and American Horror Story at Brewvies.
- Local stand-up comedy via Comedy Roadkill at the Complex.
