Glad You Asked: Paint, Toys and Cornmeal

Dear GYA: Not gonna lie, I’m kind of bummed. I just got released from the Colts, ma neck hurts, ma DirecTV don’t work and ma dumbass little brother just won the Super Bowl. Anything I can do today to feel better? –Peyton M., Motel 6, State St.---

Peyton, I’m really sorry to hear about your DirecTV. What a horrible loss. As for today, why not focus your stress through a paintbrush? At 1 p.m. over at The Leonardo, you can help Pop artist Jann Haworth create a large-scale mural that celebrates women scientists, artists, writers, musicians, dancers, etc. The cost is only $100 … and no art experience is necessary.

Then this evening, how about checking out Disney on Ice: Toy Story 3 over at the Energy Solutions Arena? It’s the story of what happens to old, broken, discarded crap that no one wants anymore. I think you’ll get a lot out of this, plus it’s on ice! The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets range from $13-$52.

If Disney ain’t your thing, then head over to The State Room at 8 p.m. for the final night of Hot Buttered Rum and Cornmeal. But don’t be confused; it’s actually two folk/jam bands that have food-related names. A $20 cover promises lots of energetic yeehawn', corn shuckn’ and acoustic singalongs. This will be right up your alley.

Other things you could do today while wearing a neck brace:

- C2U Karaoke @ Cheers to You in Midvale

- Joshua Luther: Meaning, art exhibit over @ the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art

- Ontario Reign vs. Utah Grizzlies hockey @ The Maverik Center
