We've got a weekend filled with mostly release show as we say goodbye to April and enter mid spring. --- And we're going to kick it off with a release down in Provo tonight, as we see the debut album from Lady & Gent. The five-piece Americana band have been playing mainly around Utah County for about a year, winning praise for their acoustic-folk style, which eventually won them one of Velour's Battle Of The Bands competitions last year. The group (seen above) have been hard at work at 29th Street Studio for the last four months putting together their debut full-length album, To Death In Delta, which you can read up more on in Austen Diamond's Liner Notes this week. You can pick up a copy tonight at Velour as they play what's sure to be a packed release show along with Brady Park & The IndiAnns and The Lucky Strikes. Just $6, starting at 8 p.m.

Up north at Liquid Joe's, we'll see the debut album from Decoy. Decoy has been one of those names that you see at shows and you don't expect much, but then you're completely blown away when he takes the stage. I've only seen him twice myself, but his mic skills are excellent and deserve much more praise than what he'll get here. Unfortunately, that's all I can really give without detail, because Decoy and his Rose Park-based label BoomBoxx Music seem to be suffering from a severe case of “domain failure.” You know, where you purchased a website a year ago and failed to renew it for the $10 fee. In fact, if not for Liquid Joe's, we wouldn't have known Decoy had his debut album, The Camp Is Here, on the way. You can at least catch the release show tonight as he performs with Sugarhouse, B-Side and Minute After 8. $5, starting at 7 p.m.

Tomorrow night, we'll see the debut release from SLC metalcore band Cherish The King. The five-piece group started over two years ago with a frequently changing lineup as they tried to find their sound. There really isn't a lot I can tell you about this band other than their excessive touring around the state, mainly because their loyal fanbase doesn't seem to talk a lot. It's true, you see this on occasion, but rarely in a local band just starting out. We can tell you that the group got their sound together and have been painstakingly working on their debut full-length album, Walking With Giants. We haven't heard anything from it yet, but if it's anything like their live shows, it's at least worth checking out. You can snag a copy tonight at In The Venue as they play their release show with Becoming Everest, Joshua Judges Ruth, Say Goodbye Kid, Summer In Alaska and Before The Burning Sky. Now, fair warning: Because this is an all-local show at In The Venue, ticket prices are a joke -- $12.50 at the door (plus a $3 service fee), starting at 7 p.m. I'm not going to encourage you to fork over that much, but if you really like the band, it might be worth the scratch.

Next on the list, though not with an official show yet, is the latest from Jay William Henderson. The former lead singer/guitarist for Band Of Annuals has been hard at work over the past couple of years, mainly behind the scenes as a producer with his own recording studio, Feral Frequency. But Henderson never really stopped performing as the occasional guest for shows and writing material in his spare time. Now he's back on the scene with his debut solo album, The Sun Will Burn Our Eyes. So far, the only thing out in the public is the title track, which if it's any indication as to the rest of the album, will be one hell of a release when it officially comes out this Tuesday, May 1. You can currently pre-order the album on Bandcamp; expect a release show in the near future.

Meanwhile, that night will also mark the official debut release from hip-hop artist Dumb Luck. Luck has been working his ass off in the local scene for nearly two years, commanding the mic for impromptu shows and major Uprok events, and now he's ready to make his debut with a full-length album. Dumb Luck has been working closely with one of the finest producers and beat masters in the city, Linus Stubbs, crafting out as fine of an album as he could in a matter of months, and from what little we've heard of Social Introduction, it doesn't disappoint. You can pick up a copy of the album this Tuesday for his album release show at Urban Lounge, where he'll perform along with Task & Linus, Yze and Pat Maine & Pig Pen. Just $6, starting at 10 p.m.
