Dear GYA, Every Sunday, Chris Parnell and I do the same thing: We wake up in late in the afternoon, get some grub and then we go to either a lame movie or a Broadway show. It's starting to get a little repetitive and pricey. Plus, my girlfriend is starting to get pretty jealous of all these bro-dates. Andy, there's nothing wrong with an occasional lazy Sunday. But every so often it's important to diversify. Here are some options for you weekend:
Let's start with Friday:
- Ballet West's presentation of Innovations will be going down at the Rose Wagner Center.
- SNL alumnis Chris Kattan will be performing at Wiseguys West Valley this weekend.
- Funk ensemble Euforquestra will be throwin' down at Hog Wallow Pub, beginning at 9:30 p.m.
- Meat & Potato Theatre Company will be showing Aliens: The Puppet Musical at Rose Wagner Center.
- Wu-Tang disciple Prodigal Sunn will be rapping at Liquid Joe's, starting at 9 p.m.
-The Salt Lake Bees will be taking on the Las Vegas 51s this weekend.
As for Saturday:
- The largest electronic-dance-music festival, Das Energi, will be going down at The Great Saltair, starting at 7 p.m.
- At the Salt Palace, check out the 2012 USA Volleyball Open National Championships.
- Miller Sports Park will be hosting the FIM World Superbike BigM Weekend.
- At 5:30 p.m. at the Pony Express Rodeo Area in Eagle Mountain City, check out the Pony Express Days PRCA Rodeo. (Also Memorial Day).
- Real Salt Lake will be kicking the ball around with FC Dallas tonight at 7 p.m.
- At the Derby Depot, check out the the Wasatch Roller Derby as they take on the Treasure Valley Rollergirls.
And finally, Sunday:
- Every Sunday, Brewvies, TrueTV, Epic Brewing and City Weekly present a free screening of AMC's Mad Men, starting at 10 p.m.
- Mo's Neighborhood Grill will be hosting a li'l stand-up comedy with Sunday Night Funnies kicking off at 9:30 p.m.
- The Utah County Swillers and The Rocketz will be jamming on the patio at The Garage, beginning at 9 p.m.
- Off Broadway Theatre will be showing Greece is the Word.
- At In The Venue/Club Sound, check out Of Monsters and Men and Yellow Ostrich, starting at 8 p.m.
