Glad You Asked: Nickelback, Murder Cooking and Inspiration

Dear GYA, Man, I party-rocked in the house soooo hard last night. First, I party-rocked a family-size bag of Ruffles. Then, I party-rocked my way through 8 episodes of Storage Wars. And finally, I got a second wind and party-rocked my recycling out to the street. It was a' crazy. But I'm thinking about party-rocking outside of the house tonight -- any good ideas? - Stefan Gordy---

Stefan, this one time I party-rocked through a 12-piece muffin platter and about five minutes later, I party-rocked all over the floor. I don't know how you do it. Anyways, here's what's happening tonight:

Canadian post-grunge band Nickelback will be performing at Energy Solutions Arena. If you've never heard of Nickelback they're responsible for those songs you hear in Jiffy Lube waiting rooms, you know, tracks like  "Photograph" and "Rockstar?" Oh well, Bush, Seether and My Darkest Days will also be performing. The doors open at 5 p.m.

At the City Creek Harmons, local author Paige Shelton will be discussing her New York Times bestselling book, Farm Fresh Murder. Chef Adalberto Diaz Labrada will be on hand instructing participants through the book's many recipes. For $50, you get your own copy of the book, plus you get to learn about some great food! The class starts at 6:30 p.m.

The Main Library will be hosting a free screening of the feel-good film Age of Champions.  The film follows a 100-year-old tennis champion, an 86-year-old pole vaulter, octogenarian swimmers and a team of basketball grandmas. This will undoubtedly make you feel lazy. The show starts at 6:30 p.m.

Other worthwhile event happening today:

- Artist Emilie Duval's exhibit Processing Society will be going down at the House Gallery, beginning at 11 a.m.

- Karaoke at Lumpy's on Highland, starting at 9 p.m.

- For some stand-up comedy, check out Comedy Roadkill tonight at the Complex at 8 p.m.
