Glad You Asked: Girl Talk, Fogerty and Utah Arts Fest

Dear GYA, I'm getting real tired of people confusing me with Dwayne Wayne, you know, that stupid actor from the Cosby spin-off A Different World? Damn it, our names are both spelled and pronounced differently. Is it my clothes? Well, it just so happens I enjoy the functionality of non-nonprescription glasses with flip-up capabilities. I don't get it. Anything happening today where people will know who I am? - Dwyane Wade---

Dwyane, I hear ya, man, but sometimes you've just got to switch up your style. I had a bowl cut in middle school and people called me Zach Morris for months. It was awful. Here's what's happening today:

Now is your chance to see the guy behind all of those catchy mash-up tunes you love so much, because Girl Talk will be performing tonight at In The Venue/Club Sound. Even if you're not a fan of his laptopping abilities, you should know that he throws one hell of a party. A typical Girl Talk show involves half the crowd dancing onstage with him and his MacBook covered in plastic wrap. The show starts at 9 p.m.

The classic roots/swamp-rock singer John Fogerty will be live on stage at Deer Valley Resort. Best known for his work with Creedance Clearwater Revival, Fogerty is considered by Rolling Stone magazine to be among the top 100 guitarists of all time (40th). If you're one of those tweens who's never heard of him before, let's just say he plays guitar ... very well. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Head to Library Square for the opening day of the 2012 Utah Arts Festival. While you're there, be sure to check in with the City Weekly tent for some free swag and for a chance to peep the 10 custom-designed newspaper boxes created by 10 local artists. The festivities start at 11 a.m.

Other worthwhile events happening today:

- The Pixel Festival will be going down at the Gallivan Center, beginning at 6 p.m.

- Check out Crucial Fest at Burt's Tiki Lounge at 9 p.m.

- Inside the Main Library, the Fear No Film Festival will be going on all day today.
