Wine Wednesday: Sean Minor Sauvignon Blanc

Hot. Man, it's been hot! Frankly, I could use a fresh tropical breeze. Enter Sean Minor Four Bears Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc. Sipping this is like a tropical breeze blowing across your deck or patio on a scorching day. ---

Sean Minor makes exceptional wallet-friendly wines, such as his Central Coast Pinot Noir and Central Coast Chardonnay. The most affordable Sean Minor wines are sold under the Four Bears label -- a tribute to Sean and Nicole Minor's four kids: Nick, Elle, Jack and Charlie.

Sean Minor Four Bears Sauvignon Blanc 2010 is made with a secret weapon: consultation from one of my favorite winemakers, Will Bucklin, a family friend and colleague of the Minors. Flavors of melon, lime and grapefruit combine with citrus and tropical fruit aromas in this great-bang-for-the-buck Sauvignon Blanc.

The fruit is 100% whole-cluster pressed, which helps to minimize astringency, and the wine is then partially fermented in neutral French oak barrels, with the majority fermented in stainless steel tanks and sur lie aged. The result is a crisp, well-rounded and very balanced wine that will be the hit of a hot summer day. Pack some for your picnic.

Oh, I almost forgot the best part -- this terrific wine sells for a measly 10 bucks. Booyah!
