Glad You Asked: Aesop Rock, $5 Cats and $5 Bees

Dear GYA, I truly believe I would have been a great addition to this year's Red Butte lineup. I'm not complaining, it's just that I know I have all the ingredients of a typical Red Butte performer -- I tell great one liners, cougars love me and I pair well with wine. I don't get it. Anything happening today for an adult-contemporary-smooth jazz-New-Age-pop artist like myself? - John Tesh---

John, you will always have a place in my heart. I'll never forget the first time I heard the NBA on NBC Theme; it was like listening to the Beatles for the first time. Anyways, here's what's going down today:

Underground hip-hop artist Aesop Rock will be performing at In The Venue/Club Sound. The homonym king is considered to be rap-music royalty, and after a five-year holding pattern Rock has finally released his 2012 album Skelethon on Atmosphere's label Rhymesayers Entertainment.  Ron Sonic and DJ Big Wiz are also on the bill. The show starts at 7 p.m.

Need a cat? West Valley Animal Services will be throwing a $5 Feline Adoption Event. Act now and you pick up a spayed, neutered and vaccinated feline for only five bucks! Shop around, you can't beat that price. Plus, it's for a great cause, and think of all the cat pictures you can post on the Internet. Click the link for more details.

At Spring Mobile Ballpark, the Salt Lake Bees will be taking on the Fresno Grizzlies.  It's Monday, so that means tonight is Smith's Family Night. Tickets are only $5 and you get a free hot dog! There's nothing that says summer like baseball and encased meats. The game starts at 7:05 p.m.

Other worthwhile events happening tonight:

- The Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo will be happening at the Ogden Pioneer Stadium, starting at 7:30 p.m.

- The Utah Film Center will be presenting a free screening of The Poseidon Adventure at the Gallivan Center. The shows starts at dusk.

- In Spanish Fork, check out the Fiesta Days Carnival, beginning at 4 p.m.
