We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on PressBackers.com, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you. DONATE

Dear GYA, I noticed on the news this morning that everyone over at NASA is celebrating and I gotta say I can't blame 'em. I truly can't believe that after all the great milestones in the history of mankind -- like landing on the moon and curing polio -- we've finally received word that Lil Wayne has quit the rap game. I just ... I'm starting to cry a little bit. I'm looking to celebrate tonight -- any good ideas? - James Gouterve, Spanish Fork---

James, you're right. Today will always be remembered as the day Lil Wayne quit rapping, not for anything else. Nope, nothing else. Here are some ideas for gettin' loose:

The Utah Museum of Contemporary Art is hosting Alex Israel's As it Lays. This multimedia film was made using the scenic backdrops of Hollywood's talk shows along with Israel's own pieces -- a truly unique perspective on celebrity culture and the inhabitants of Hollywood. The exhibit is going on all day today.

On of the most beloved musicals of all time, Fiddler On The Roof, will be performed this evening at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theater. The only problem with seeing this musical is you'll be humming "Matchmaker," "Sunrise, Sunset," "If I Were a Rich Man" and "Tradition" for the next week. The show starts at 8 p.m.

The Red Desert Ramblers will be performing at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center this evening. If you've never heard these guys, then be prepared to kick off your shoes for some serious barefoot stompin'.  The Ramblers are one of Utah's thriving bluegrass, country and swing bands and always put on a great show. Best of all, it's free. The show starts at 8 p.m.

Other worthwhile events happening tonight:

- Les Miserables will be going down at the Utah Shakespearean Festival.

- At noon at the Gallivan Center, check out the free Lunch Bunch Concert Series.

- Geeks Who Drink pub trivia will be happening at the Devil's Daughter Bar and Grill tonight at 8 p.m.
