Dear GYA, It looks like our little Megan is finally out of the house. Yup, she's beginning her freshman year of college and the wife and I just dropped her off on the campus. It was pretty easy -- we spotted a sign that read "daughter drop off" in front of a fraternity house, so we left her with those helpful young men. Anyway, now that we have an empty nest, anything good happening tonight? - Roger Mardinheimer, Porterville

Roger, college is a place where people learn a lot of important life lessons, like when you're dropping your daughter off at college don't leave her at a frat house. Eh, she'll be fine. Here's what's happening tonight...

Norah Jones will be performing at Red Butte Garden tonight. The singer and pianist's debut album, Come Away With Me, took down five Grammy Awards and sold 26 million copies. Cory Chisel and The Wandering Sons will be opening things up. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Famed local author Shannon Hale will be signing and reading from her new book Palace of Stone this evening at The King's English Bookshop. The book is the sequel to her best selling Newbery Honor graphic novel, The Princess Academy. The signing starts at 7 p.m.

At the Library Plaza Amphitheater, check out the Music at Main! concert series with free performances by local bands The Suicycles and Birthquake. City Weekly's The Word will be there taking photos and giving away free stuff! The show starts 7 p.m.

Other worthwhile events tonight:

- It's Karaoke Night at Lumpy's On Highland, beginning at 9 p.m.

- The Salt Lake Bees will be taking on the Colorado Springs Sky Sox tonight at 7:05 p.m.
