Tonight: SLC Chef on Extreme Chef

In case you've been in a coma and hadn't heard, SLC's own Viet Pham, co-owner and chef along with Bowman Brown of Forage Restaurant, is a competitor on Season 2 of Food Network's Extreme Chef. ---

The idea is that seven chefs -- now six, since one was dismissed in last week's Episode 1 -- are thrust into extreme and grueling culinary challenges after being dropped into extreme locations, with one contestant being "thrown off the island," so to speak, each week.

Spoiler alert: In last week's show, Viet Pham was chosen to compete against Kansas City chef Lance Knowling -- who'd lost in round 1 -- in an "ultimate cookoff" -- sort of a sudden-death situation where the loser gets a second chance to stay on the show and remains in contention for a $50,000 grand prize.

According to Viet, look for things to heat up in the new few episodes. "I get portrayed pretty badly," said Pham. "But you'll see why, eventually."

Episode 2 of Extreme Chef Season 2 airs tonight on Food Network.
