Glad You Asked: Hank III, Labor Day Music Fest and Bees

Dear GYA, I just wanted to remind you that today is the last day that it's fashionably acceptable to wear white. That means no more Don Johnson undercover-cop jackets, no more all-white morph suits and certainly no more tighty whiteys  -- which I think is total crap. Anyways, anything happening tonight where I can sport this wedding dress? - Mike Crunchington, Provo---

Mike, who says you have to listen to society's "rules?" You shouldn't mix patterns. You can't wear navy blue with black. You can't eat at a Big Boy without wearing pants. Screw those rules. Here's what's happeing tonight:

The Gallivan Center Labor Day Music Festival will be going down all day today. This all-ages event will feature local and national rock, country and pop acts including American Hitmen, Royal Bliss, Nigel and The Metal Dogs and Meldodramus. Tickets are $20 and, currently, buy one, get one free.

In The Venue/Club Sound will be hosting country legend Hank III tonight.  The grandson of Hank Williams, Hank III puts on a three-hour show, with an extended alt-country first set and a punk/metal second set. Expect nothing. The show starts at 8 p.m.

Possibly the best way to celebrate not working is sitting back and watching the Salt Lake Bees take on the Sacramento River Cats this afternoon at Spring Mobile Ballpark. It's Smith's Family Appreciation Day, which means for only $5 you can score a ticket and a hot dog. Today's game starts at 1:05 p.m.

A few other worthwhile events:

- The Doomsday Trailer Races will be happening at Rocky Mountain Raceways today at 4 p.m.

- At 8 p.m., head to Devil's Daughter for a round of Geeks Who Drink pub trivia, starting at 8 p.m.

- And at 9 p.m., Urban Lounge will be hosting Hoots & Hellmouth, The Awful Truth and Longhorn Slim and The Law.
