Dear GYA, I love the fall, I really do. I look forward to the leaves starting to change color, college football and even new episodes of The Amazing Race. But holy hell, can I go five minutes without hearing about some sort of new pumpkin-spice-related product? I swear, if someone says "pumpkin-spice latte" one more time, I'm gonna end up buying one. - Jamal Kristensen, Park City---
Jamal, during autumn there's no escaping the pumpkin-spice wave. It's the most omnipotent of the seasonal flavors. Anyway, here are a few things happening today that should be free of pumpkin spice:
The Big Shiny Geek Show Pub Quiz will be going down at Lucky 13 this evening. Voted Best of Utah in 2012, this team-based trivia event is hosted by CW's Big Shiny Robot's editor Bryan Young and the host of the Geek Show podcast, Shannon Barnson. By a long shot, this is one of the tougher quizzes of the bunch. The quizzin' start at 8 p.m.
The State Room will be hosting the Marinade CD-Release Party. This local band is a happy fusion of funk, blues, reggae and just about everything in between. Pour Horse and Brian Ernst are also on the bill. Doors open at 8 p.m.
The Park City Farmers Market will be happening at Canyons Resort this afternoon. Located in the Cabriolet parking lot, this is your chance to sample some the best produce, baked goods and knick-knacks that the Wasatch Front has to offer. The market kicks off at noon.
A few other worthwhile events happening today:
- The Utah State Fair is still going strong at the Utah State Fairpark all day today.
- The always-free Lunch Bunch Concert Series will be happening at the Gallivan Center today at noon.
- Piper Down's Kasino Karaoke will be starting up at 9 p.m.
