Tomorrow promises to be a difficult day if you're trying to get around downtown, thanks to the first-annual Utah Marathon.---
Marathon-related events start on 200 East between 400 and 500 South, and police anticipate drivers in the area could be held up for as long as 20 minutes as police officers work them around the runners.

The Salt Lake City Police Department asks for care and patience in the face of events that kick off at 6:30 a.m. tomorrow morning with the Bike Tour. The actual marathon begins at 7 a.m., along with the half marathon, followed at 9 a.m. by the 5K run/walk and, at 10 a.m., the kids K.
There will be awards ceremonies at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon. After 1 p.m., the stragglers will be directed to the sidewalk so that street traffic can flow as usual, bar 200 East between 400 and 500 South, which will closed for after-race events.
