In partnership with the Utah Arts Alliance and with the support of Wasatch Community Gardens, AFLA announced the new community art garden this month. The vision is to have 80 to 100 plots available for downtown dwellers to harvest from. Dreu Hudson, assistant director AFLA, says that they also hope to include sculptures and a stage to host local acoustic singer-songwriters once a week -- music to weed and water your plants to -- in the garden.
Tonight, however, isn’t about hammering out the logistics of the approximately 7,500 square foot plot of land next to the Utah Arts Alliance (663 W. 100 South); it’s about gauging interest, having a discussion, raising funds and having fun -- and all to the sounds of local bands, with gourmet food for under $10 served.

Tonight, The Mixx (615 W. 100 South) will host the fundraiser, with doors opening at 8 p.m. and music from 9 to 11 p.m. Bands such as Ferocious Oaks, Minx, John Ross Boyce and Michael Cundick will perform. There will be art by Jared Knight, Alex Guy, Danny Madsen, Alex Hinton, Michael Trube and more.
