If you're a woman who's always wanted to play football, it's a good weekend in Utah for you to give it a shot. ---

Both of Utah's teams in the Women's Football Alliance tackle league will be holding open tryouts this weekend. On Saturday, Dec. 15, the Utah Jynx will check out prospective new players at Franklin Covey Wellness Center (2200 W. 2700 South), from 1 - 5 p.m. The tryouts will include a combination of combine-type drills and position-specific drills, with Gatorade and other refreshments provided. Attendees will be required to pay a $50 tryout fee, but roster spots and practice squad spots are open. E-mail utahjynx@hotmail.com for more information.

Then on Sunday, Dec. 16, the Utah Blitz will also be trying out new recruits. Just Indoor Soccer & Caffe (212 W. 1300 South) will be the venue from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.; athletes should wear tennis shoes and gym clothes (no cleats). E-mail utah.blitz@yahoo.com  for more information.

Games for the 2013 season begin in the spring, with the season running approximately April - June.
