A couple of the festival's most talked-about films are among the choices for Salt Lake City and Ogden Sundancers. ---
The one true can't-miss film is in Ogden tonight: Before Midnight, the third feature-length visit with Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Celine (Julie Delpy), about which I've already gushed in detail. With an SLC screening of Before Midnight still to come tomorrow, Salt Lakers might opt instead for the well-liked U.S. Competition drama The Spectacular Now, adapting Tim Tharp's novel about a hard-drinking high schooler turning a timid girl into a project to build her confidence.
Higher-profile titles might steer you away from It Felt Like Love, but this wonderfully honest look at a Brooklyn girl struggling with the cusp of adulthood has been one of my biggest out-of-nowhere pleasant surprises, anchored by a marvelous performance by young Gina Piersanti.
