Glad You Asked: Galactic, Carrie Rodriguez and The Ruby Suns | Buzz Blog
We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on PressBackers.com, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you. DONATE

Dear GYA, Lately, I've been thinking I should change my name for professional reasons. I guess I need something edgy and fun, yet sharp and distinguished -- a name that commands respect, something like ... Steak Laserdisk or Queso LeBeef. Is there anything happening today where I can test out some of these names in real-life situations? - Gary Herbert , SLC---

Gary, Why would you want to change your name? Gary is a good, solid name. I do like Queso LeBeef, though. Here are a few things happening today:

New Orleans funk band Galactic will be performing at The Depot, alongside Quannum funk and R&B stalwarts Latyrx, Lyrics Born and Lateef the Truthspeaker.  Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door.

Austin-based fiddler Carrie Rodriguez will be onstage at The State Room. Jeff Crosby is also on the bill. Doors open at 8 p.m Tickets are $12.

Indie-pop band The Ruby Suns will be at Kilby Court tonight. Doors open at 9. Tickets are $9.
