Dear GYA, I love that my girlfriend can appreciate my sophisticated fashion sense, but for the love of God, it's not a plaid shirt, you idiot, it's f*cking gingham! Gingham. Jesus. Any chance I can be surrounded by people who know what's up with a well-balanced outfit? - Carlton George Michaels, Park City---

Carlton George, It's true, gingham does not get the respect it deserves. But, I believe it's only a matter of time before people stop confusing it with plaid. Hopefully, one of the following options will recognize the importance of this subtle difference:

At Brewvies, City Weekly will  be showing a free screening of The Boondock Saints. Checkin with The Word before the movie to enter to win appetizers and more from Brewvies! The show starts at 8 p.m.

Seattle rockers The Cave Singers will be at The Urban Lounge tonight at 9. The Pollens will be warming things up. Tickets are $12.

Rhymesayers emcee Toki Wright will be performing at Kilby Court this evening. Kristoff Krane and Carnage are also on the bill. Tickets are $15.
