An unwanted computer, TV or sound system cluttering up your garage? Salt Lake County Health Department wants to take them off your hands.---

On Friday, April 19, the county's health department, in conjunction with the Salt Lake City arm of Samsung and the University of Utah, is holding a free, one-day electronic waste collection at the university campus. Anyone from the county can take part.

Take your televisions, old printers, cell phones, or any other electronic item you don't want to 1795 E. South Campus Drive, near the South Campus TRAX station. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The county's aim is to keep dangerous materials out of the landfill. But there's also an incentive of sorts for those who want to clean house. Attendees who complete an Energy Star pledge form will be entered into drawings for Samsung prizes.

They only want individual waste, however, so businesses need not apply. If you're a business with electronic waste to dispose of, call 801-541-4078.
