We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on PressBackers.com, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you. DONATE

Dear GYA, I'm gonna America so damned hard today. Fair warning: Anyone who's within my direct circumference for the next 24 hours has a 50 percent chance of witnessing me exploding through these jean shorts and exposing a red, white & blue, painted-on, eagle Speedo. Anything to do today after I go America all over everybody? - Carl Reedword, Sandy---

Carl, July 4th is a pretty crazy day for guys like us. Not everyone can handle the amount of America we bring to the table. Here are some things to do once you're done honoring our country:

Chicano-rock band Los Lonely Boys will be at Deer Valley Amphitheater with Los Lobos and Alejandro Escovedo tonight at 6:30. Tickets start at $30.

At Spring Mobile Ballpark, the Salt Lake Bees will be taking on the Tacoma Raniers tonight at 7.  If you're into it, there will be a dove release and fireworks!

Legendary hip-hop DJ and producer DJ Drama will be at The Hotel tonight at 9. Tickets are $20.
