We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on PressBackers.com, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you. DONATE

Dear GYA, I’m freakin’ out, man. The House’s attempt to rein in the NSA failed, and now, man, I’m like, freakin’ out. I need to do something -- like, something where I can leave my cell phone, I mean, tracking device, at home, get off the grid and, like, enjoy some slack lining in the park or something. – Harry Roklimberson, Cottonwood Heights---

Harry, I know this NSA stuff is pretty scary, and the fact that the House voted to maintain its power is even scarier, but here are some ideas to get you out of the house, and into the world:

The Gallivan Center is screening Who Framed Roger Rabbit? The movie begins at dusk, or around 8:30, and admission is free.

Utah Botanical Center is hosting cupcake night. Learn fun decorating techniques and new recipes, too. The class starts at 6:30, costs $3-10 and you get to decorate your own cupcake to take home.

It’s also Film Buff Night at Brewvies. Tonight’s show is Bull Durham, it starts at 10, and it’s free!
