Dear GYA, I know I'm not the only one who thinks last night's Video Music Awards were disturbing and wrong, especially Miley Cyrus' twerk routine. Go head, call me old; I don't give a damn. I used to be hip and with it, but then they changed what it was. Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too! Anything going on today that Miley Cyrus can't desecrate? Middle-Aged Man Who Still Watches VMAs, Sandy---

Middle-Aged Man Who Still Watches VMAs, It's OK to feel this way. Hating MTV and everything it stands for is part of a natural process that happens to everyone once you reach your early to mid-20s. Instead of complaining about MTV's programming, just stop watching it. Here are a few other things to do today:

The Woodshed will be hosting its weekly Back To The Freestyle rap show. Tonight's lineup inlcudes Burnell Washburn, Seven-Eleven, Omeed the Nag and Dj Vagif. The show starts at 9.

Experimental-punk duo No Age will be at Kilby Court tonight. Protect Me is also on the bill. Tickets are $14.

Washington-based rock band The Moondoggies will be at The Urban Lounge this evening. The Hollering Pines and David Williams will open things up. The show starts at 9. Tickets are $8.
