Dear GYA, It's difficult for me see to my keyboard through these tears of joy, but I have to tell you how damned happy I am that Kanye West will be performing here this November. Sure, tickets are expensive -- I'll probably have to take out a second mortgage on the house, sell my PT Cruiser and eat nothing but stolen condiments for a month -- but, come on, it's Kanye.--- Anything happening this weekend better than the coming of Yeesuz? - Jenn Froyo, South Salt Lake 

Jenn, I'm glad you understand that we all must make sacrifices for the patron saint Yeezus. Here's what's up for this weekend, starting with Friday's events: 

The Utah State Fair is going down all day today at the Utah State Fairgrounds. Singer Amy Grant will be on stage at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10. For a full list of today's activities, click here.   

The Greek Festival will be happening at the downtown Greek Orthodox Church, starting at 5 p.m. Tickets are $3.

Rapper Casey Veggies will be at The Project tonight. Tickets are $13. The show starts at 8.  

American-country guitarist Junior Brown will be onstage at The State Room. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30.  

Atlanta-based indie band Deerhunter will be performing at Urban Lounge this evening. Wymond Miles is also on the bill. Tickets are $18. The show starts at 8. 

Tonight is Stir Friday at Zest Kitchen and Bar, hosted by DJ Flash and Flare. The music starts at 9. Admission is free before 10:30. 


Saturdays events: 

For some colleg- football action the University of Utah will be taking on Weber State today at Rice Eccles Stadium. Kickoff is at noon.  

The 2013 City Weekly band of the year L'Anarchiste will be hosting a CD release party at Urban Lounge this evening. The show starts at 8. Tickets are $5.

'80s new-wave band, The Psychedelic Furs will be at Park City Live tonight. The show starts at 8. Tickets start at $25. 

SCERA Outdoor Cultural Arts Center will be showing a free screening of The Hobbit at 7:30 p.m. 

The Gallivan Center will be hosting the 2013 Brazilian Festival all day today. The party starts at 1 p.m.  


Sunday's events:

City Weekly, True TV, Bohemian Brewery & Brewvies will be showing the final season of AMC's Breaking Bad, free on the big screen at 7 p.m.

Indie band Animal Collective will be performing at The Depot tonight. Dan Deacon will open things up. The show starts at 8. Tickets are $25.  

Bourbon House will be hosting Funk and Soul Night with DJ Street Jesus tonight at 9. There is no cover.  

The Urban Flea Market will be happening at 600 South and Main St. today, starting at 9 a.m.
