We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you. DONATE

Glad You Asked: Grayskul, Attila and Nightmare on Elm Street

Dear GYA, Yeah, so, I spent $100,000 to go on a man-date with Food Network's Guy Fieri for a day. But, honestly, I couldn't think of anything else worth spending that kind of money on. I thought about throwing it in a dumpster and lighting it on fire. Then, I figured, maybe I should cover it in barbecue sauce and feed it to a pack of wild dogs. I guess I just wasn't feeling creative.--- Is there anything happening today better than hanging out with Guy Fieri?- Steven A. Cohen

Steven, There are plenty of smart and calculated ways to get rid of  $100,000 rather than hanging out with Guy Fieri. Have you considered using the money to make a paper-mache rocket and then into a lava pit? Here are a few other ways to spend your money:

Rhymesayer's rap crew Grayskul will be at Urban Lounge tonight .Graves33 + Eneeone, Gloomwalkers, Ruddy Carpel and Establishing Beliefs are also performing. The show starts at 8. Tickets are $15.

Atlanta-based metalcore, Limp Bizkit-like band Attila will be onstage at In The Venue. Upon A Burning Body, The Plot In You and Fit For A King are also on the bill. The show starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $16.

At Brewvies, it's Film Buff Night, which means you can see the 1984 classic, Nightmare on Elm Street on the big screen, for free! The show starts at 10.
